Teresa Bright
Ms. Bright was a partner in Simmons & Ungar LLP from 1993 through 2009. She is now Of Counsel to the firm. She has practiced immigration law since 1982 and was a California Certified Specialist in Immigration & Nationality Law from 1989 to 2010. She is a graduate of Stanford University and received her J.D. degree from U.C. Hastings College of the Law in 1980.
Ms. Bright litigated Sun Moon Star Advanced Power, Inc. v. INS, 773 F. Supp. 1373 (N.D. Cal. 1990) successfully challenging the INS interpretation of regulations regarding "affiliate" in L-1 and immigrant multinational managerial/executive transfer cases. She has made presentations to lawyers' groups on E and L nonimmigrant visas, employment-based immigrant petitions, political asylum and remedies and relief in the deportation context.
Ms. Bright served as Editor of the 13th Annual American Immigration Lawyer's Association California Chapters Conference Handbook and co-authored a chapter on immigration law in Sexual Orientation and the Law, published by the Clarke Boardman Company.
She served member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association Task Force on Suspension/Cancellation of Removal established in 1996 and for over ten years was a mentor attorney in political asylum cases for the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights.
Ms. Bright is fluent in Spanish.
