The State Department has proposed a rule, effective June, 4, 2010, to increase nonimmigrant visa and border crossing card application fees. The fee for Machine-Readable Visas (MRVs) and adult Border Crossing Cards (BCCs) will go from $131 to $140. Additional tiers of petition-based nonimmigrant visas and treaty trader and investor visas will also be introduced. The BCC fee charged to Mexican citizen minors whose parent has a BCC is applying for one will be raised to $14.
