September 9, 2009
As of September 8, 2009, all federal contractors and subcontractors are required to begin using E-Verify. E-Verify is an electronic system designed to enable employers to confirm that new hires, whether employed on a federal contract or not, are legally authorized to work in the United States. Under the E-Verify federal contractor rule now in effect, all federal contracts require those awarded government contracts worth $100,000 or more (including subcontractors who will receive over $3,000 in compensation) to use the E-Verify system. Companies awarded a contract by the federal government are required to enroll in E-Verify within 30 days of the contract award date. More information on E-Verify is available at: www.dhs.gov/e-verify.
