On April 28, the Immigration Service announced that all of its offices in Mexico - with the exception of the Visa Section in Ciudad Juarez - please monitor daily - you will find information on the home page - would remain closed until further notice due to the outbreak of swine flu in Mexico. The offices may be available in emergency cases. In addition, the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City has announced that all nonessential consular services will remain closed in Mexico through at least May 6, 2009. The Embassy is continuing to monitor the situation and will announce prior to May 6 if the closure needs to be extended.
All nonimmigrant visa appointments made between April 27 and May 5 will be rescheduled by the Embassy. The Embassy will notify visa applicants via phone or e-mail of their appointment rescheduling. Applicants may also reschedule their visa appointments free of charge by calling: 01-800-719-2525. According to the Embassy, a separate notice regarding immigrant visa appointments will be issued shortly.
