The USCIS released statistics on the number of H-1B petitions received for the FY 2010 program. Of the approximately 65,000 slots available, USCIS has received 44,000 cap-subject petitions. Although USCIS has received approximately 20,000 petitions for individuals with a US Masters degree or higher, they continue to accept advance degree petitions since not all petitions received are approvable.
For cases filed under premium processing during the first five days of filing, the 15-day period began on April 7, 2009. Cases filed after the first five days will be treated accordingly on the date that USCIS receives the petition.
