USCIS has a newly designed alien registration card, and the card is now actually GREEN! In a press release issued March 11, 2010, the USCIS explained that the new and improved card will be “nearly impossible to reproduce” because of its “holographic images, laser engraved fingerprints, and high resolution micro-images.” In addition, the card has Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) capability, allowing the Customs & Border Protection Officers to more quickly process permanent residents at ports of entry. These new cards will be issued to all immigrants obtaining permanent residence on or after May 11, 2010 and will be issued to immigrants who have the need to replace their cards because of expiration, loss or theft.
