The USCIS announced that they are still accepting US advanced degree cap cases even though they have already received approximately 20,000 petitions which is the maximum number allowed in a fiscal year. Continuing to accept these cases will allow USCIS to reach a final count of 20,000 since some of these petitions may be denied, revoked, or withdrawn. Once the US advanced degree cap is filled, overflow cases filed in this category will be redirected to the regular cap, provided that numbers remain available.
The regular H-1B count remains at approximately 45,000, materially unchanged from the last count done on May 4, 2009.
