Each year 50,000 permanent resident visas are available to persons from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States through the diversity immigrant visa program. The rules regarding eligibility for the Diversity Visa Lottery are available on the U.S. Department of State’s website at http://travel.state.gov/dv2005.html. This year, entries for the diversity visa lottery must be submitted electronically between Saturday November 1, 2003 and Tuesday, December 30, 2003. Applicants may access the electronic entry form during that 60 day registration period at http://www.dvlottery.state.gov. Paper entries will not be accepted. Only one entry per applicant is permitted. Submitting more than one entry will result in disqualification. Applicants will be selected at random by computer from among qualified entries. Those selected will receive notification by mail between May and July 2004. Persons not selected will not receive any notification.
